One Glorious Buttercup

The Buttercup Collection was designed by British artist Clare Twomey, well-known for her work in clay, sculpture and large-scale installations. Clare began by handmaking one delicate ceramic buttercup, observing how the leaves and stamen differ from other flowers.

From this beautiful creation, a master mould was made and, in a series of workshops, used to hand-pour all of the other ceramic blooms. When the moulds set, tiny porcelain petals were inserted and intricately shaped by hand. Each buttercup was then individually fired and glazed bright yellow.
